Casino licence pivotal to scheme - Quayle

by isleofman.com 16th December 2008
The minister for tourism and leisure says he is evaluating the idea of a casino and aparthotel at Mount Murray.

A planning application has gone in for a ?45.6 million scheme.

The casino would be built across from the car park with the aparthotel opposite.

If the green light was given, work would start in the new year.

Minister Martyn Quayle says one aspect of the scheme in particular will need careful consideration.

He told Manx Radio:

"It will require the Council of Ministers to consider the granting of a second casino licence, and that appears to be pivotal to the proposals which are being put forward.

"That aspect needs to be resolved one way the other before we can subscribe our views."
