Early payments for Kaupthing depositors?

by isleofman.com 16th December 2008
Customers of collapsed bank Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander could get an early Christmas present this week.

During Tywald’s sitting, the court will be asked to hand out ?1,000 to depositors under an early payment scheme.

Treasury Minister Allan Bell will ask for approval to hand out the cash as the bank faces an uncertain future, with more than ?500 million of its assets still frozen in the United Kingdom.

Mr Bell will first ask for standing orders to be suspended so the motion can be considered by the court.
