It's never been easier to submit views

by isleofman.com 15th December 2008
A new website launched by the Manx Government will allow people to take part in consultation exercises.

The site, gov.im/consultations, aims to improve access to consultation processes by making them all available in one place.

The service was requested by the Council of Ministers after it introduced a new code of practice on consultations in summer.

It will enable government bodies to gather views from the public and interested parties as well as set out information.

The new site already has five topics for people to submit their views, namely work permit reforms, restrictions on endangered species, a new Gambling Supervision Bill, licensing HGV operators and planning.

Chief Minister Tony Brown says consultation is an important part of the democratic process, and the website shows the government wants to encourage open and frank exchanges of views.

People can log onto the site and give their views on issues being considered by the government.
