Pick of the bunch was youngster Chris Nicholson, who came second overall in the future stars class, just two points behind Wales' Sam Harrison.

He also helped the North West Region team to first place overall.

In the seniors Chris Whorrall, with partner Dan McLay, was second in the 1km Madison time trial, just six hundredths of a second behind the victorious USA pairing.

Jonny Bellis and partner Ben Swift were third, three tenths of a second further back.

Elsewhere Peter Kennaugh (pictured) was sixth in the 20km points race and fifth in the 10km scratch race and Bellis was seventh in the 10km scratch and 12th in motor-paced scratch.
