Rate payers in Peel will have a good opportunity to get any major concerns off their chests, at a public meeting tomorrow afternoon.

The town's commissioners will be hosting a two hour session at the Corrin Hall, and are inviting local residents to air their views on any topical issues.

The meeting has been arranged after it was recently made clear to the board that channels of communication could be improved.

Commissioner Rodger Gimbert says it will be a pretty informal affair, with everybody mingling around a series of displays, relating to current schemes. He told Manx Radio: "We are passionately trying to make sure that the stuff that we need done for the town is done, but it's done in a sympathetic way so it doesn't actually affect the town adversely.

"That's the main thing ... we need to be making certain that people can see what we are trying to do and it's to be open and accountable, as the people have asked us to be, and also to allow us to listen to concerns that they have.

"We can actually think that we are doing the best thing by the people, but the people don't know what we are doing and why we are doing it. That's why we need to have this meeting."

The meeting at the Corrin Hall will be at 2pm tomorrow (Saturday).
