End of an era for the RAFA Club

by isleofman.com 1st September 2008
When it opened 55 years ago, the building cost ?120 a year to rent.

However, much has changed since and it will be the end of an era when the RAFA Club in Douglas closes its doors for the final time this evening (Sunday).

The Royal Air Force Association base in Bucks Road’s no longer able to sustain running costs.

Branch secretary Doug Griffiths says the closure has been coming for some time (audio file attached):

The Isle of Man branch of the Royal Air Force Association is to continue and a branch meeting will be held at the Cat With No Tail pub on Tuesday (September 2).
