ADVANCE WARNING OF POSSIBLE RACING DELAYS

by isleofman.com 29th August 2008
The Department of Transport is hoping to avoid a repeat of Wednesday's traffic chaos in the event of delays at the final day of racing for this year's Manx Grand Prix.

It's issued a media release warning of possible delays because of the poor weather forecast.

Hundreds of workers were caught up in traffic jams yesterday because the roads were closed until 7pm to allow racing to be completed.

Clerk of the TT Course Phil Taubman has apologised, but says it was circumstances beyond his control which led to racing delays.

Director of Highways Bruce Hannay says weather forecasts indicate it will be a similar day tomorrow (Friday), and therefore racing may have to be delayed until the afternoon.

Therefore he's encouraging motorists to take that into account when they're planning their journeys tomorrow.

He advises everyone to listen to the radio or check the Roadwatch website for regular updates.
