More on Fluoridation in Keys

by isleofman.com 24th June 2008
Long-term care for the Island's elderly, the fluoride consultation and plans for the old prison in Douglas are among subjects for debate in the House of Keys today.

The sitting will start with a formal move to fill the most senior official position in the Keys.

Clerk of Tynwald designate Roger Phillips will also be Secretary to the House of Keys and Counsel to the Speaker.

the House will be asked to approve that appointment, then it's onto questions.

With the fluoride consultation in mind, Onchan member Peter Karran will ask for reassurance leaflets used in similar exercises in future only contain factual information.

Bill Henderson will again raise concern about the change of policy on long-term care for the elderly and his North Douglas colleague John Houghton will ask the health minister what's happened to an official report on the risks posed by mobile phone masts.

Michael member David Cannan will ask when the new prison in Jurby will be operation.

And south Douglas member Bill Malarkey will question whether the Office of Fair Trading can prevent what he calls the exorbitant prices charged by airlines to Manx people when they have to change their flight times.

Quetion-time in the House of Keys will be broadcast live on Manx Radio's AM service (1368) from 10am.
