Moves against former MEA board dropped

by isleofman.com 18th June 2008
Legal proceedings are still going on against the former MEA Chief Executive Mike Proffit, but attempts to recover directors fees from former board members are being stopped.

The decision has been supported by the Council of Ministers and was told to Tynwald members by the current acting chairman Eddie Lowey MLC.

He says advice was taken from three separate sources.

It was apparently clear that there would be no further gain for either the Authority, or the community it serves, in pursuing the issue any further.

But Mr Lowey says the issue of the former Board is an entirely separate matter to that of the former Chief Executive, where legal proceedings were still 'ongoing'.

That is apparently all that is going to be said on the matter at present, in view of legal sensitivities.
