Progress at CRHS

by isleofman.com 18th June 2008
Positive steps are being taken at Castle Rushen High School to improve relations between senior leaders and staff.

That from an interim report on the progress of an Action Plan - put in place at the school earlier this year.

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked Tynwald this week for an update on action to resolve problems at Castle Rushen.

It was reported that poor communication and a lack of consultation between senior leaders and staff, were key findings of a Special Inspection of Castle Rushen.

The action plan to address these problems IS making progress - according to independent consultants who are monitoring it.

Mr Watterson's been told the views of staff, pupils and governors have been sought at each stage in the plan's development and systems for effective team working are

Questionaire responses from staff have been positive and all staff have now endorsed the plan.

A national programme to spread leadership more widely is being put in place - it's called 'Leading from the Middle' and will be tested - as an alternative to replacing the assistant headteacher when the post becomes vacant at the end of term.
