Helicopter heading for Marine Drive

by isleofman.com 11th June 2008
A helicopter from RAF Valley in Angelsey will be used to airlift an injured man from the bottom of a steep ravine below Marine Drive, just south of Douglas.

The man has serious but not life threatening injuries, and has been treated at the scene by paramedics, who climbed down to help him.

A lifeboat was considered as a means of rescue, but was ruled out because of the state of the tide.

Coastguards with a stretcher and lifting equipment are also at the incident, about half a mile south of Douglas Head.

The alarm was raised shortly after 1pm by a companion of the injured man.
