The Department of Home Affairs says it's pleased that members of union PROSPECT and the Prison Officers Association have agreed to the new rostering arrangements.
It claims the arrangements are of major importance in terms of the operation of the Isle of Man's new prison at Jurby.
However the department says it's extremely disappointed that the offers put forward in respect of mileage and night duty on-call allowances have been rejected.
In a statement the Department say they're equally disappointed that they've received no official confirmation from lead union official Angela Moffatt on the outcome of the ballot.
The DHA says it was only through a local official of the Prison Officers' Association and senior prison management that the department was informed of the results.
It believes a "fair and equitable" offer has been made to members of Prospect and the POA with regard to the mileage and night duty on-call allowances. The rejection of the offer means the existing arrangements will continue.
The statement concludes "the department has made its stance clear that if the mileage offer was rejected it would be removed from the table and the matter referred to the Civil Service Commission for further consideration by the Joint Negotiating Committee for the Civil Service which ultimately has to conclude an agreement."
