A 20-year-old man has been jailed for a total of six months, including the activation of a suspended sentence, after pleading guilty to alcohol-related offences.

Anthony John Gilmour, of Farmhill Meadows, Braddan, admitted two counts of provoking behaviour.

The first offence was in Castletown at the Union pub on March 21st when he became abusive after being refused service.

Then on March 29th outside the Star Grill in Douglas Gilmour and another person were abusive to staff and dropped their trousers.

Edward Oldham reports:

His advocate said Gilmour wished to apologise for his behaviour and said he hadn't developed a mature attitude to life.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle told him if he had any sense he'd have taken advantage of the suspended sentence imposed in February and while it wasn't a similar offence, alcohol had been involved then as well.

In addition to the prison sentence Mr Moyle banned Gilmour from on-licenced premises for 18 months and also from buying or being sold alcohol during that period.
