The newly re-elected members of Braddan Parish Commissioners have issued a response to what they call 'wholly inaccurate or misleading information' contained in the manifestos of former Clerk Charles Lewin, the unsuccessful candidate in last week's election.
Mr Lewin issued two manifestos, one for most households in the parish and the other for those living in public sector housing.
The members point out that his claim of unfair dismissal isn't accurate, as an employment tribunal has yet to considered his appeal.
They also highlight comments he made about the financial management of the authority.
It's pointed out that the Department of Local Government and the Environment has checked their figures and given approval to the way the commissioners handled and presented certain expenditure in the 2006/07 set of unaudited accounts.
While regretting having to apply above inflation rate rises, the commissioners claim the financial picture for the board is improving and the deficit is being steadily reduced.
They say the approved estimates for 2008/09 have been calculated to produce an underspend of around ?60,000 which will reduce the deficit reported in March 2007 by nearly ?100,000.
The commissioners end their statement by saying that issues of concern to the electorate are being addressed and they remain determined to see that Braddan acquires a reputation as the leading and most respected local authority on the Island.
