'Twitchers' ready for Dawn Chorus Day

by isleofman.com 2nd May 2008
Bird spotters in the Isle of Man will be making their contribution to International Dawn Chorus Day on Sunday.

Early rising 'twitchers' will meet at the Curraghs Wildlife Park at 5am, before setting off on a two hours walk, during which they will be hoping to identify as many songbirds as possible.

Around two dozen 'songsters' are usually identified, with recent species including grasshopper warblers, siskins and cuckoos.

Wildlife Park Manager Nick Pinder says, despite the early start, it's a popular event (audio file attached):

Any songbirds identified will be added to the International Dawn Chorus Database.
