Inquests into tragic deaths

Inquests are being held today (Fri) into the deaths of a young woman and a man, in separate tragedies.

Stacey Andrews who was 20 and from Ramsey, was a pillion passenger on a motorbike which crashed on the Mountain Road last October.

27-year old Andrew Piekalns died from injuries when he fell from the window of a house in Douglas in December.

Hearings into both cases are taking place at Douglas Courthouse (pictured) later.

The adjourned inquest heard Miss Andrews suffered multiple injuries when the bike she was pillion on, was involved in an accident on the Mountain Mile on Sunday 14th october.

The rider escaped with ankle injuries.

Police carried out extensive inquiries into the circumstances of the accident.

The initial hearing into Mr Piekalns' deaths was told he suffered fatal brain injuries after falling through a window at a house in Christian Road in Douglas on December 10th.

He survived the immediate aftermath - but died later that day in the intensive care unit at Noble's.

Miss Andrews' inquest will be held this morning - Mr Piekalns' this afternoon, both before the Coroner Michael Moyle.
