Minister's statement following TT inquests

Individuals and organisation severely criticised by the Coroner at the end of the 26th Milestone inquests are considering what, if anything, to say in response.

Recording misadventure verdicts on one rider and two spectators, Michael Moyle said the race fans would still be alive had they not been allowed to stand in a prohibited area.

Mr Moyle referred to a catalogue of disasters involving Marshals, the Manx Motorcycle Club and the Department of Transport, and said the positions of some of the key people involved were now untenable, in terms of their future participation in motorsport events in the Isle of Man.

Shortly after Mr Moyle delivered his verdicts, a statement was issued by Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw (pictured). This is part of what he had to say:
