Drug cops target 'big players'

The courts must continue to take a tough stand on drug dealing, if the Isle of Man is to avoid the blight of drug-related organised crime.

That's the verdict from the Drug Trafficking Unit, after a key figure in the import and supply of cocaine to the Island was handed the longest sentence ever imposed for drugs offences.

Thirty-three year-old dealer Martin O'Malley, of Hibbin Way, Douglas was this week jailed for 14 years.

Taking out big players in the drugs trade is now a priority for the unit, to prevent large quantities of drugs reaching the streets.
