A 25 year-old man who admitted supplying drugs to people, including his own sister, has been jailed for a total of three years by Deemster Doyle.
Steven Eric Curtis, whose address was given as care of the Island's prison, admitted two offences of supplying ecstasy, one of offering to supply ecstasy, one of possessing the drug with intent to supply and two of possessing cannabis resin.
Linda Watts, prosecuting, said police went to a flat in Circular Road, Douglas at 11.05pm on May 25 last year, following reports a woman was unwell.
The woman was Curtis's sister who had been given two tablets by him. She was taken to hospital where she did not wake up until the following afternoon.
Others in the flat had also been given tablets and a search uncovered a total of 149 of them, along with cannabis with a street value of ?211.
The defendant's advocate called it 'a dangerous and tragic situation', but not as tragic as it might have been. Curtis was extremely sorry and remorseful for what happened that evening and his remorse was genuine.
Deemster Doyle said the aggravating fact was Curtis being involved in supplying tablets.
He said drugs on the Island posed an exceptional threat and people caught, and they would be caught, would be given severe sentences.
