Henderson welcomes hearing aid news

The progression of an NHS digital hearing aid service in the Isle of Man has been welcomed by an MHK who has campaigned for its introduction.

North Douglas member Bill Henderson still feels the transition to the new technology could have been quicker, but is happy nonetheless.

He has been told by Health Minister Eddie Teare that a digital programme was introduced in May last year, and to date around 25% of those who need them have received the new sets.

Full changeover is expected by 2010.

Mr Henderson says it's good news as people on the Island are entitled to equivalent, if not better, provision than their counterparts in the United Kingdom:
