MHK's shock at fly tipping

by isleofman.com 6th March 2008
A politician says she is 'appalled' by what's being described as 'a serious incident of fly tipping' on government owned land at Cross Vein Mines, Glen Rushen.

Various large household items were dumped, including a sofa, other furniture and children’s toys.

Brenda Cannell, MHK, says it 'beggars belief', as it would have been more convenient to take the items to an amenity site than to carry them up to the beauty spot.

Such offences can lead to a fine of up to ?5,000 and imprisonment.

Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact Peel police station on 842208.

Mrs Cannell heads the forestry division of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
