Airline backs runway extension

The head of airline EuroManx says failure to extend the safety areas at Ronaldsway Airport’s runway could affect the viability of its routes in the future.

There is concern up to a quarter of the Island’s most bio-diverse inter-tidal area could be destroyed, if a ?42 million runway extension goes ahead. The extension would be in the form of a promontory into the sea at the eastern end of the runway

However, Chief Executive Officer of EuroManx, John Seymour, says safety recommendations should never be ignored:
