MLC assault investigation today

by isleofman.com 29th February 2008
Six members of Tynwald will today (Fri) look into allegations of bullying, verbal abuse and common assault, which have been made against a member of the Legislative Council.

The Tynwald Standards Committee will convene for the first time since the 2006 general election, to examine the case against Pam Crowe.

Mrs Crowe strongly denies all the claims, which are thought to have been made by a member of staff at Central Government Offices.

Yesterday, committee Chairman and Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan confirmed an investigation was under way, and that members would be meeting this afternoon.

The other members of the committee are MHKs David Anderson, Anne Craine and Tim Crookall, and MLCs Dudley Butt and George Waft.

Mrs Crowe is one of seven candidates who will contest four seats on the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
