Steam Packet to be advertised on TV

by isleofman.com 29th February 2008
A new television advertising campaign promoting the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company starts on Monday.

Its a four week promotion and will feature 30-second and 10-second adverts on Border, Granada, GMTV and Channel Four with the first scheduled to air during Monday’s edition of Emmerdale.

The adverts have been produced by Manchester-based advertising agency Access. They feature the renamed Viking (formerly Superseacat Two) sporting its new colours as part of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s re-branding.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: “This is our first TV campaign in the North West of England since 2001. It is a joint initiative with the Department of Tourism and Leisure, with the adverts really showcasing the beauty of the Isle of Man. I’m confident many tourists will find it hard to resist.

The advert slots are spread throughout the day and, whilst the timings are subject to change, we’re delighted to have some high-profile shows in our schedule, such as Coronation Street, Deal or No Deal, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and News at Ten – we even have slots scheduled during two James Bond movies, Diamonds are Forever and Never Say Never Again”.

The company has run TV advertising campaigns in Northern Ireland and Eire in recent years and another will take place in those areas starting in April.
