Hal Volante trial

by isleofman.com 28th February 2008
The jury in the trial of a gymnastics coach will today (Thurs) go on a site visit of the facility where it’s alleged he carried out a number of serious assaults on young girls.

62 year old Hal Volante, the former head coach of the Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club in Douglas, denies eight counts of indecent assault.

The prosecution yesterday opened its case and said that, over several years, the defendant abused his position of trust, engaging in deliberate, manipulative and grooming behaviour of young girls.

Evidence is also expected to be heard later from youngsters, via video link.
