Carrot cake wins 'Manxie Chef 2008'

by isleofman.com 28th February 2008
A spiced carrot and nut cake won 'Manxie Chef 2008', held on John Hines' Mid Morning Show today.

It was baked by Sharon Challis from Onchan, and judged by Manx Radio staff, and chef and restaurateur David 'Butch' Buttery, in a series of on-air Eurovision Song Contest-style polls.

Needless to say, Sharon was delighted with her success (audio file attached):

Runner up was a lemon crunchy cake made by Joan Watkinson, from Mount Rule, Braddan.

The prize for the winner is lunch for two at 'Butch' Buttery's Driftwood restaurant, in Victoria Street, Douglas.

The winning recipe will be added to this story later.
