Livestock die in barn blaze

by isleofman.com 28th February 2008
The wait is on to see if a barn blaze in the north of the Island last night will affect the health of 300 pregnant ewes in a building nearby.

Fire crews from Ramsey and Laxey had to go down a narrow farm lane to reach the Croville farm of John and Denise Moore, outside Maughold..

Water had to be brought in from a distance and crews stayed there until about 3am.

Fourteen ewes and six lambs died in the fire but there are fears about the possible effects on the remainder of the flock.
