Eye tests - no decision yet says Teare

The Health Minister maintains nothing has been decided yet regarding NHS eye tests.

On Manx Radio today Eddie Teare said a draft DHSS document which looks at ending free check-ups hadn't even been considered by his department, and certainly wasn't policy yet.

The Isle of Man Association of Optometrists was up in arms over the paper and presented Tynwald with its own report, which said cutting costs would lead to much higher spending on treatment.

Mr Teare says rather than the proposals saving ?500,000 annually, they were about focusing resources more efficiently:
