Woman cleaned bloody knife

by isleofman.com 27th February 2008
A woman who admitted washing a knife allegedly used in a stabbing has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Twenty-six year-old Stacey Anne Robina Ashton, of Willaston was charged with committing an act against public justice.

Ashton told police she cleaned blood off the blade because she was scared.

Her advocate said the defendant had witnessed a serious assault, was in a state of confusion and was still unable to give a logical reason as to why she had done it.

Ashton was given a four week sentence, suspended for twelve months, by Deemster Doyle.

He told her interfering with evidence was a very serious offence, but would give her a chance by imposing a suspended sentence.
