House of Keys preview

by isleofman.com 26th February 2008
Today's Keys questions are dominated by issues for the Home Affairs Minister.

Rushen MHK Quintin Gill is asking Martyn Quayle to justify his comparing of the Isle of Man to the UK when talking about the extent of CCTV coverage needed over here.

And North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson wants to know when Mr Quayle will bring in a scheme similar to the 'Sarah's Law' one now being trialled in England.

Edward Oldham has more:

Under the pilot scheme, parents are able to check whether friends and relatives with regular unsupervised access to their children have child abuse convictions.

Mr Henderson also has a question for Mr Quayle on the possible jail term lengths for those found guilty of sexually abusing children.

Elsewhere, East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell wants an update on the DHSS's plans for transporting adults with learning difficulties.

Other significant topics to be covered during this morning's session include the Island's CO2 emissions and what the DTL plans to do about MER track erosion in Maughold.
