Are prisoners receiving comforts?

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2008
Prisoner comforts at the new prison in Jurby will come into question in the House of Keys next week.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will ask Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle about how well-equipped cells are.

Mr Henderson wants to know whether every prison cell is fitted with a colour LCD 15 inch flat screen television, whether they have a handset, and if there are at least two larger LCD televisions installed for the benefits of residents.

He will also ask what the total bill for televisions is, as well as the fitting costs and whether prisoners have access to satellite television.

It's hoped offenders will be moved into the ?40 million facility by June.
