Glover treble downs Ramsey

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2008
Steve Glover was the hero as Corinthians confirmed they’ll be playing in the Sure Mobile Premier League again next season.

He hit a hat-trick as the Whites were comfortable 3-0 home winners against Ramsey, who should be safe themselves, but are still looking anxiously over their shoulder at the bottom two.

However, despite a battling display, St John’s were unable to make up any ground on Ramsey and remain deep in the drop zone, going down 3-2 at Old Boys.

Sean Gavin, Gary Quirk and Darren Hudgeon were the home side’s scorers with Anthony Moore continuing his fine form with a double – but it wasn’t enough for St John’s.

In CFS Division Two, the Police won a tight game, 3-2 at Onchan.

Leaders Colby marched on after a 5-0 success at hard-working Jurby – Furo Davies was the main man with a hat-trick with Michael Baker and Steven Leece the other scorers.

Castletown continued their fine season and their marked improvement with an emphatic 4-0 home win over Malew in the southern derby.

And there was no doubting the star of the show yet again.

Alex Cawley was the toast of the town with a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Ashley Sansbury.

And there was an exact repeat of last weekend’s GH Corlett Woods Cup semi-final with Braddan 5-2 winners over Ronaldsway again – this time at Ronaldsway.

David Kinrade (two), Nick Ford, Michael Wheeler and Andrew Lancaster were on target for Braddan with Dwayne Dawson and veteran Andrew Cadwallader the Ronaldsway scorers.
