Byron - suspended sentence

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2008
A 23 year old woman who stole goods from a charity shop has been given a total of 49 days custody, suspended for two years, by the High Bailiff.

Melissa Byron of Central Promenade, Douglas, appeared for sentence after admitting theft and possessing cannabis resin.

The defendant stole clothing from a charity shop, then on her arrest was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis resin.

Her advocate said the defendant had had a chaotic lifestyle and was at a low ebb when she committed the offences. She was described as being vulnerable.

Mr Moyle said he did not like people stealing from charity shops. He made a five year exclusion order and remanded her in custody until her removal from the Island.
