'Save Border TV' visit

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2008
The bid to save Border TV gathers pace today (Fri).

A delegation is visiting the Island to meet Chief Minister Tony Brown.

ITV plans to merge the Border and Tyne Tees regions to save money, but critics fear it would lead to a loss of Manx TV news coverage.

Bosses last week confirmed the new merged news service would contain at least 12 minutes of Border regional news.

The visit has the weight of one of Cumbria’s premier entrepreneurs Andrew Tinkler, chief executive of Eddie Stobart behind it.

He will fly the delegation from Carlisle Airport to the Island in his company jet.

Dan Davies will also be taking YOUR calls on this issue on Manx Radio's Talking Heads programme from 12.30 today.
