Say no to DPA

by isleofman.com 21st February 2008
Local companies who receive correspondence from UK firm DPA Registrations, should ignore it.

The Office of Fair Trading says DPA contacted an Island-based firm telling them their data protection registration was overdue and they could be fined ?5000 if it wasn't completed.

DPA then offered to to administer the registration process for them for ?110.

However, the OFT says no local company needs to use this service.

If you need to notify under the Data Protection Act in the Isle of Man the fee is ?40 and correspondence will only be sent from the Office of the Data Protection Supervisor.

If you need any further advice, contact the Supervisor's Office on 693260.
