DHSS 'foolish to follow Treasury' claim

A North Douglas MHK believes the Health Minister needs to consider more than savings.

Bill Henderson says Eddie Teare is foolish to follow what he describes as 'the Treasury mantra of prudence' above the needs of the people.

Mr Henderson (pictured) was speaking after an increase of 7.3% was announced for the DHSS in the budget yesterday.

He welcomes the additional spending, but questions where it is going to be directed.

Mr Henderson says the Isle of Man is 20 years behind when it comes to digital hearing aids and has concerns about transport cuts for disabled people.

He says if just one person is disadvantaged because of a reduction in services, that's one person too many:
