'Unlawful death' verdict for Manx soldier

by isleofman.com 19th February 2008
The inquest into the death of a Manx born soldier has been held today (Tuesday) in Wiltshire.

Nineteen year-old Kingsman Adam Smith was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in April last year, along with four colleagues and a Kuwaiti interpreter.

He was brought up in Liverpool and served with the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.

Coroner David Masters recorded verdicts of unlawful killing and called for better protection for British Troops.

He said he would be meeting with Armed Forces Minster Bob Ainsworth later this week to discuss the matter further.
