Harvester owner could yet give evidence

by isleofman.com 15th February 2008
A bid to force the owner of the Solway Harvester to give evidence has been approved by the High Court in Edinburgh today (Friday).

It’s more than eight years since the vessel sank 11 miles off the Isle of Man, killing all seven crew on board.

However, the inquest into the sinking has yet to conclude after owner, south-west Scotland businessman Richard Gidney, refused to travel to the Island, on the grounds it may prejudice any civil action against him.

Coroner Michael Moyle made the request to obtain evidence and today that was granted by three Lords at a Court of Session.

It’s understood Mr Gidney is currently in Spain.
