Solway court bid

by isleofman.com 15th February 2008
An application to force the owner of the Solway Harvester (pictured) to give evidence will go before the High Court in Edinburgh today (Friday).

The Manx authorities lodged a petition after south-west Scotland businessman Richard Gidney refused to attend the inquest into the sinking, on the grounds it may prejudice any civil action against him.

It’s eight years since the vessel sank 11 miles off the Island, killing all seven crew on board.

The families of the crew are still waiting for death certificates for their loved ones due to the delay of the inquest.

It’s understood Mr Gidney is currently in Spain.
