Jailed for possessing drugs

A 38 year-old man has been jailed for a total of twelve months, after admitting possession of cocaine and cannabis.

James Peter Wall of Glen Road, Laxey was arrested in June last year at his then home in Port Erin.

Police found 27.1 grams of cocaine, valued at ?2,172 and three grams of cannabis resin, with a street value of ?8.46.

Wall confirmed to police the drugs were for his own use and said he had paid ?800 for the cocaine.

His advocate Jim Travers said the defendant had pleaded guilty immediately and had taken steps to address his alcohol and drug problem.

Wall said he wanted to put the whole episode behind him for the sake of his children.
