Profits from re-zoning to be taxed?

An MHK believes he has identified a potentially lucrative new source of revenue for the Manx Government.

In Tynwald next week, Onchan member Peter Karran will ask the Treasury Minister to bring in a tax on agricultural land which is re-zoned for industrial use.

Mr Karran (pictured) wants land owners to hand over 25 per cent of the new value, and the money to go towards supporting the Island's health services:
