Manslaughter defence to open

by isleofman.com 14th February 2008
The defence in the trial of two men charged with the manslaughter of a teenage cyclist is due to open its case this morning (Thursday).

47 year old Philip Firth of Laxey and David Jones of Ramsey each deny the charge.

They carried out repairs to a wagon shortly before it was involved in a fatal accident.

13 year old James Berry died in Noble’s Hospital in December 2005, a day after he was hit by a wheel from the truck, whilst out cycling in Greeba.
