Careers 2008 today

Training local people to fill Manx jobs will reduce the number of immigrant workers needing work permits, according to political member of the Department of Trade and Industry, Juan Turner MLC .

The annual job convention - Careers 2008 - takes place at the Villa Marina today, and is open to anyone - young or old - thinking of a new or different career.

The event this year is being organised into 5 main industry sectors - ICT, Finance, Construction, Engineering, and Retail and Hospitality.

Mr Turner says there's plenty of help available for further education and vocational training:
