A 57 year old man charged with harassing his former partner has been placed on probation for two years by the High Bailiff.

Frederick Charles Smith of Hutchinson Square, Douglas, was also charged with being drunk and incapable.

Smith was also made subject to a restraining order in respect of his former partner, Anne Fowles.

The defendant was parted from the aggrieved because of his alcohol addiction.

His advocate Sue Griffith said Smith would not have harmed Miss Fouls, he just approached her to see if their relationship could be rekindled.

The two offences of being drunk and incapable were committed at the airport in December and Mrs Griffith said the defendant was very embarrassed.

Mr Moyle imposed a twelve month ban on the defendant entering on-licence premises and from purchasing or being sold alcohol.
