Archdeacon on sacrifices during Lent

by isleofman.com 5th February 2008
The Archdeacon of the Isle of Man says Lent is good time for everyone to think about self-discipline, regardless of their religion.

The next 40 days are intended to mirror the time Jesus spent in the wilderness in preparation for his ministry, and people have traditionally used the time to give something up, such as alcohol or chocolate.

The Venerable Brian Smith (pictured) accepts that not everyone recognises the Christian message, but believes everybody could benefit from taking a personal review (audio file attached):

The Archdeacon was speaking to Dan Davies on Talking Heads.
