by isleofman.com 5th February 2008
A Laxey man charged with manslaughter has spoke of his devastation at an accident in which a teenage cyclist died.

47 year old Philip Firth and Ramsey man David Martin Jones deny unlawfully and feloniously killing James Berry in December 2005.

The 13 year old was on a training ride in Greeba when he was struck by a wheel, which had broken away from a passing truck.

In statements to police Mr Firth said he was devastated by what had happened, but was satisfied the vehicle had been in a roadworthy condition.
