Commonwealth youth concerns

by isleofman.com 4th February 2008
As the Island looks forward to hosting the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games the Celtic League is questioning how individual Commonwealth countries treat their young people.

The group has carried out extensive research and produced a major report on the issue and claims that it is clear that the reality of life for young people in many Commonwealth countries will not match some of the rhetoric which will attend events such as the Youth games.

The organisation questions how much money some of the participant countries will spend on their involvement in the games and asks if the money spent would not be better used supporting social programmes in their own countries.
