Vikings stay top; Phoenix beat Ramsey

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2008
Kim Carney scored four as Vikings A’s impressive start continued on Saturday with an 8-0 win against Valkyrs B in women’s Division One.

Champions Bacchas A and Valkyrs A met in the clash of the day with Bacchas edging the contest 2-1.

And Kate Rothermel (two) and Hannah Biggerstaff were the scorers as Phoenix A produced the result of the day to seal a fine 3-1 win over Ramsey A, who came back down to earth after their victory against the champions last week.

Ali Breen was the Ramsey scorer.

Elsewhere, in Division One Katie Tinkler scored twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Kate Sutton and Lauren Stewart as Castletown A saw off Harlequins 4-0.

Valkyrs A maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in men’s Division One with a 5-0 win over Castletown.

Reigning champions Bacchas A were not in action, while the other of the big three, Ramsey A, edged a seven goal thriller against battling Saracens – although it was unfortunate not to feel sorry for Steve Cottier who hit a hat-trick for Saracens and still ended up on the losing side.

Andy Whiting scored twice with Tom Wilson and Paul Griffith getting the others as Bacchas B were 4-1 winners over Vikings B, for whom Dan Jacobs scored.
