OFT advice after contractors mystery

The Office of Fair trading says you should contact their officers or an advocate if you’ve paid money to Alex McDowall Roofing and Building Contractors.

The company, based in Douglas, seemed to cease work last week when staff found themselves locked out of the offices.

Since then, the OFT says it’s been contacted by customers who’ve paid significant amounts of money.

Trading Standards inspector John Peet says the OFT’s advice is simple (audio file attached):
