Governor's Bridge scheme to begin

Work on the Governor's Bridge improvement scheme gets underway tomorrow (Monday).

The ?1.25 million project will see a wider carriageway from the Nook to Governor's Bridge and the creation of a full-sized roundabout.

The new road will be built on land adjacent to Government House, but the existing section will be retained as part of the TT course.

It means the Bemahague Road, between its junction with Governor's Hill and the Governor's Bridge roundabout, will be closed between February 18 and March 3.

Director of Highways, Bruce Hannay (pictured), says the work shouldn't be too inconvenient to motorists (audio file attached):
